Why We Don't Recommend Fixing Cardio Machines Trapped In a Basement Flood

Also the electrical parts will be damaged due to "Foreign Object Damage" left over from when the water dries or shear electrical component damage while being plugged in while flooding occurs. These and more reasons not considered might all lead to a catastrophic equipment failure and possibly injury

Building on this, most of the fitness equipments are built on a metal frame, usually steel. To protect these equipments from moisture, sweat and even water spillage, the exterior of these frames are powder coated. In the case of a flooded equipment where water is allowed to enter the frame, the oxidation (a form of corrosion, also known as rusting) begins immediately.   However, the interior of your machine’s frame is NOT powder coated and that bare metal is exposed to the elements. Structural Integrity of the whole machine suffers, especially over time.

This is why we suggest to our customers to stay off of ANY machines that have been exposed to water for your own safety. Risking your health and well being is not worth the cost of a replacement machine
