FAQ’s for COVID-19 Facility Shutdowns: By Matrix

Oct 14, 2020

❖ Should I unplug my machines during an extended shutdown?

Matrix recommends unplugging machines during the shutdown. Turn off all individual machines and unplug prior to shutting off circuit breakers. Reverse the steps when reopening the club.

❖ What will happen to the batteries on self-powered cardio units?

During the shutdown, the battery will lose charge. If the battery voltage drops below 11.2V, error 0201 will show on the console or low RPMs will cause the console to go dark. Either operate the cardio equipment for 20 minutes or contact Matrix Customer Technical Service to order a power cord. Once the battery voltage is over 11.2V, the equipment will operate as normal. The only option for CXM and CXP training cycles is to ride the bike or externally charge the batteries. A four-port external charger is available for purchase. The part number is ZMS4009235.

❖ Will the MYE TV receivers lose programming during the shutdown?

The MYE TV receivers should not lose programming during the shutdown.

❖ Can I fog against COVID-19?

Matrix will not honor any warranty or extend any customer accommodations for rust resulting from fogging. In order to prevent overspray, equipment must NEVER be sprayed directly. Matrix has published an approved list of cleaners. As of 3/30/2020 that list includes: • Daily/Maintenance Cleaner (member use) o Athletix Wipes o Mild dish soap and water mixture in spray bottle (10:1 water to soap) o Vinegar and water mixture in spray bottle (20:1 water to vinegar) • Maintenance Disinfectants (to be used by trained staff) o Puregreen 24 o Athletix Disinfectant Wipes o Computer/LCD screen cleaner and micro-fiber cloth for touchscreen consoles

❖ How do I restart the equipment after an extended shutdown?

• Turn on HVAC system

• Bring equipment to room temperature and humidity for 48 hours.

  •  Turn on breaker. If powered from outlet plug-in, turn on power.
  •  If any errors occur, reset unit power. If an error still occurs, contact Matrix Customer Technical Support.

• If self-powered, follow “What will happen to batteries on self-powered cardio units?” shown above.

❖ What should be done to guide rods on strength equipment?

After an extended shutdown, Matrix recommends the entire strength line go through the Quarterly and Bi-Annually maintenance checklist shown below. The list includes “Clean and lubricate guide rods with approved lubricant.”
