Issue symptoms

The condition that causes error 16 must persist for 15 seconds before it is logged. The most common cause of this problem is external input power fluctuations due to brownouts, blackouts, or other poor power conditions. This can also be caused by wiring that is too small of a gauge or too long to handle the current, or if the neutrals are shared between multiple outlets.

Troubleshooting steps

  1. Find out if blackouts/brownouts have occurred recently in that area.
  2. Check if treadmill was running off a backup generator or backup power source.
  3. Monitor the minimum line voltage as follows:
    1. With the Treadmill at the Welcome banner.
    2. With a runner at 6MPH.
    3. With the TRM at the Welcome banner and a runner at 6MPH on an adjoining treadmill.
    4. Check for fluctuations of greater than 15% between steps 3a and 3b, or fluctuations of 5V or more when running on the adjoining TRM.
  4. If either of the conditions in Step 3d exist and the error has been occurring frequently and/or on multiple units, request an evaluation of the facility distribution wiring.
